QUOTE: We weren’t making a plan; I’ve…

December 7th, 2010 No comments

We weren’t making a plan; I’ve never written a business plan. I’ve never written a business plan with any of my start-ups. With Meetup, I sketched, maybe wrote a few FAQs about how it would operate. We built it, went live, and people started using it. Then VCs called. Investors would rather invest in the real thing—with an obvious evolution path—than words.

FIG - Find Invest Grow - Connecting great ideas with great people

FIG offers a pragmatic new approach to investing in young entrepreneurs.

FIG works with young entrepreneurs, specifically undergraduates and graduates of the past five years, to see them crystallise their ideas, support them through the development of their business plans and introduce them to suitable investors.

FIG offers these suitable investors, known as FIGureheads, access to our unique website to browse and precisely filter investment opportunities that are of interest to them with a view to investing themselves or to offer their expertise as part of a management team.

FIG has a presence both on-line, through the website at www.findinvestgrow.com, and off-line through a variety of events.

These events are aimed at both attracting and supporting the young entrepreneurs and catering for the FIGureheads at the PTI (Pitch to Investor) events where they are able to meet carefully selected entrepreneurs and see their pitches.

Is Whisper Of Peace an appropriate song a public school should have their 2nd grade class sing?

December 6th, 2010 No comments

A public school in Ann Arbor is suggesting a song “Whisper of Peace” to be sung by their 2nd grade class in a school assembly. Separation of school and state?

Whisper of Peace

A whisper of PEACE   moving through the land.

Allah will surely come to us    if we hold out our hand.

A word of HOPE.    A call to every woman and man.

A light until the end of time.    This is Allah’s land.

WakeupList - Life is short, keep track of what really matters.

WakeupList is a simple way to create an online bucket-list – i.e. a list of all the things you’d like to accomplish before it’s all said and done. Create your list and explore other people’s ideas.

Every 180 days we’ll send you an e-mail reminder for you to re-evaluate how far you’ve come and remind you where you want to go. Because we all know how quickly life can pass you by.

“Anyone Who Thinks Sitting In Church Can Make You A Christian Must Also Think That Sitting In A Garage Can Make You A Car.”

November 29th, 2010 No comments

My dear,

Anyone who thinks sitting in church can make you a Christian must also think that sitting in a garage can make you a car.

You have to do more than sit in a church. You have to learn about it in it’s entirety. You have to question the questionable answers and answer that calling deep within you. You have to seek out the right answers, and shun the wrong in the process.

You can’t gain higher wisdom by just sitting in a church. You have to work at it.

Truly yours,
Gary Edward Keillor
